A CD player, remember those? I drew this when I was 14 – eight years ago, before I ever took a real art class – before anyone “taught” me the fundamentals of drawing. The sad part is, I would not have the patience and determination to sit down and draw something the way I did [...]

Available to purchase on Etsy! The print on the left was improperly inked. The one on the right is how it’s supposed to look like. I submitted a final print that looked like one on the right and it was the one that elicited the general “holy shit” reaction and my prof said it was [...]

What I spent my weekend doing: This thing is such a pain in the ass to ink because it’s 9×10 Sixth state print of copperplate, still not finished. Aquatinted three times to develop the different grayscale variations and to develop the black spaces I’ll etch it and probably aquatint it at least once more

I am so happy right now. In any other circumstance I would be miserable because I spent four hours sitting on a stool in a freezing studio painting on incredibly tiny details with hard ground on top of aquatint resin: This is done in stages to develop grayscale by placing the copperplate in a tub [...]

I was ready to fall asleep an hour ago but then made the mistake of trying to conceptualize my next copperplate for my printmaking class. I’m sure this is the internal struggle most creative people face – we can all point and say “that looks like shit” when we watch shows like Project Runway and [...]

Cell phone pictures of my state proofs at the printmaking studio Hard to see, but gives you a general idea of what I’ve been doing five-ten hours a week I didn’t photograph my ninth state proof, but it’s basically a black background. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll manipulate the plate further. I don’t want [...]

Shitty cell phone picture of my print at the 4th state I’m in the process of getting rid of the hatchwork in the front and sky. I’ll take pictures of all the different states and post them during the weekend Update on my hands: Ow.

I’ve spent at least eight hours total the past six days in the printmaking studio, and all I have to show for it is one print at the second state and mysterious rashes on top of my hands. I guess I should’ve bought the $4.59 rubber gloves instead of the Duane Reade brand for $2.59. [...]

What I worked on this weekend: Etching in copperplate. That’s going to be used to make prints, basically like a stamp.

They showcase an abandoned NYC Central Railroad Station along 65th – 69th Street Transfer Bridge. I have more from this photoshoot uploaded on flickr. I just HAVE to post this: I tend to pick up phrases from the people around me – one of my friends in school used phrases like “Pardon?” and “Oh dear.” Friend: “I hit a deer with my car today.” Me: “PLEASE TELL ME YOU SAID ‘OH DEER’” http://www.etsy.com/listing/53226010/oh-deer-and-deer-head-silhouette-pair-of?ref=fp_treasury_6
